Getting there
The Hollow Root opens at the foot of Crow's Rock, north-west of Ashgrass Field. Guildmaster Serah sends you there with Into the Hollow Root (level 3+, after A Second Soul).

The rooms
- Hollow Root — Dark Tunnel: No light but your own: a 14 m light follows you and each pet. Hollow Wisps haunt it.
- Hollow Root — Roost: Two Cliff Harpyens nest here.
- Hollow Root — Old Cache: A cache chest holds Gnoll Seal and 80 Sealscript.
- Hollow Root — Alpha's Den: The Gloam Gnoll Alpha (level 5, 1800 HP) and its Cleaving Howl (5 m around it). Seal it or slay it.
The Alpha
The Gloam Gnoll Alpha is a boss: it always drops gear, and it can be sealed as well as slain. Bring the Gnoll Seal from the Old Cache, put it on hotbar slot 1 and bind the Alpha while it is at full health. Its seal chance is 22%, and a failed roll destroys the card. Stay out of the Cleaving Howl: the telegraph on the ground shows where it lands.
Beating the Alpha finishes Into the Hollow Root and rewards 1500 XP, 300 Sealscript and a choice of Soulsteel Blade, Soulstone Amulet, Iron Cuirass.
